White Hart Cottage is a delightful period cottage offering flexible and spacious accommodation. The current owners have thoughtfully renovated and decorated throughout, including new period timber windows by Jack Brunsdon, and the house presents with a smart contemporary feel. The very generous drawing room at the front of the house has a pretty bay window and multi-fuel woodburner. There is also a good sized dining room and lovely bright kitchen/breakfast room with French doors leading out to the courtyard garden. Beyond the breakfast room is a partially glazed rear hallway, also with French doors to the outside, leading through to the playroom with an adjoining shower room. A spiral staircase leads up to a study area and this part of the house offers much flexibility as to its use. From the main hallway, stairs lead up to the first floor where there are three very substantial double bedrooms and a large family bathroom.
Opposite the dining room is another staircase leading down to the basement which has been tanked and the large reception room is used as a family room with a home cinema screen. There is also a utility room and wine cellar.
Situated at the top of the High Street, White Hart Cottage sits in the heart of the highly regarded Thameside village of Whitchurch-on-Thames, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pangbourne is within walking distance and provides an excellent range of local facilities including a main line rail link to London, Paddington. The more comprehensive amenities of Reading are 7 miles away (London, Paddington 27 mins) and the M4 (J12) is just 6 miles away and provides excellent vehicular access to London, its airports and the motorway network. The local area is well served by an excellent range of schooling, including Whitchurch Primary school (Ofsted Outstanding) which is within walking distance. Langtree School in Woodcote (Ofsted Outstanding) is also closeby and became a DfES Specialist Performing Arts College in 2006. There are recreational facilities for all requirements in the locality and the surrounding countryside is renowned for its walks and rides.
White Hart Cottage has a very pretty paved courtyard garden at the back of the house which is accessed from the kitchen/breakfast room. This space, which is very private, is easy to maintain and is a lovely area for alfresco dining.
