The original part of this splendid Victoria house dates back to about 1840 with later additions in the 1880s. The house has an abundance of original features including fireplaces, high ceilings throughout and large sash windows. A welcoming entrance porch leads you into the inner entrance hall. The impressive drawing room is on one side and is a wonderful room for entertaining featuring a large fireplace with woodburning stove and views to the front and rear gardens. The recently built orangery leads off the drawing room and is currently used as an office, with wonderful views over the garden. There is access to the indoor swimming complex from the orangery, which also houses a jacuzzi spa and sauna. Sets of French doors lead out to the garden. On the other side of the hall the dining hall, library and sitting room can be found. The kitchen/breakfast room is well appointed with a cream Aga, cream cabinetry and granite worktops. From the kitchen there are steps down to the cellar, as well as a spiral staircase up to the first floor.
From the dining hall the main staircase takes you up to a bright and airy landing on the first floor. There are five double bedrooms, one with en suite bathroom, and the family bathroom at this end of the house, with bedroom 4 and 5 interconnecting. There is an impressive master bedroom suite, with its own dressing room with built in cupboards and large en suite bath and shower room. From the landing, a second staircase leads up to the top floor where two further double bedrooms can be found.
The house is in immaculate condition and has two alarm systems, CCTV in the orangery and underfloor heating in the kitchen/breakfast room, orangery and pool complex.
Loddon Court is situtated close to Swallowfield and Spencers Wood which offers a good range of day to day amenities including a bakers, off licence, Indian Restaurant, chemist and post office. More comprehensive shopping, business and leisure facilities can be found in Reading and Basingstoke, which both have fast rail links to London Paddington and London Waterloo respectively. Reading Railway Station, Crossrail (from December 2019) and Reading Green Park Station (from 2020) are well located for the property. The locality enjoys an excellent reputation for both independent and state schools, including Crossfields, Leighton Park School, Reading School for boys, Kendrick girls grammar, St Neots, Reading Bluecoat, Sherfield and Daneshill. The area is highly regarded for its equestrian facilities and other sporting interests, including a variety of golf clubs locally, gliding at Lasham, flying at Popham and sailing on the south coast. There are also numerous footpaths over the surrounding countryside.
The house is approached through wrought iron gates along a long drive up to the turning circle in front of the impressive entrance porch. The house sits well in its grounds with the south facing lawns at the back leading down to a haha. On this side of the house there are several terraced areas, ideal for alfresco dining and entertaining, and easy access into the swimming pool complex from the garden.
There is a secondary driveway further downLambs Lane which brings you straight up to the garage block, past the kitchen gardens and poly tunnel. There are several paddocks within the 14 acres and as well as a separate barn with power, which can be reached via a spur road off the secondary drive. A little further down Lambs Lane there is a third entrance on to a track which takes you directly to the barn. The barn has much potential as to its use, as it has a concrete floor and power. There are also two ponds within the grounds, one by the main entrance and the other within the woodland close to the second entrance.
Leading out from the kitchen is a courtyard with a secure pedestrian gate to the driveway at the front and access through the log store to the rear garden and terrace.
