The small South Oxfordshire village of Moulsford lies beside the River Thames just to the South of the historic old market town of Wallingford which was granted a Royal Charter by Henry II in 1155.
Situated on the west bank of the River, along a beautiful stretch of the Thames and acknowledged to be one of the longest runs between locks, the village has many interesting half-timbered cottages and larger houses, including a 17th century manor house, reflecting a rich architectural heritage. The surrounding scenic countryside comprising the Chilterns on one side of the River and Berkshire Downs on the other, is designated an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”.
The village has two highly regarded private preparatory schools, Cranford House for girls and Moulsford Prep. for boys and the local area generally has an excellent range of state and private schools within easy reach. On the edge of the village there is a petrol garage with a convenience store, and in Ferry Lane is situated the Beetle & Wedge Boathouse Restaurant.
For walking enthusiasts there are numerous footpaths and bridleways which have access onto the Berkshire Downlands linking to the ancient Ridgeway path and also onto the Thames towpath which extends along the River from Wallingford to Streatley.
For rail commuters the nearby villages of Cholsey and Goring both have mainline railway stations providing fast services to Oxford, Reading and up to London (Paddington) in under the hour. The village enjoys good road communications generally to the surrounding towns and motorway networks.
Believed to date from around 1900 and later extended to provide spacious family accommodation, Sowberry Lodge is a charming individual property of flexible arrangement. The front door opens into a reception hall with oak flooring, continuing through into the reception rooms. On the ground floor there is a spacious kitchen/breakfast room, separate dining room with larder and doors to the garden, sunny sitting room with working fireplace, a study, shower room and via an inner hallway, two double bedrooms. Upstairs is the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and further double bedroom both leading from a central landing. The accommodation is generous throughout and the house enjoys beautiful far reaching rural views.
Initially accessed over a private shared driveway leading to just four properties, then a 5 bar gate opens into the private gravelled forecourt parking area, leading up to a detached garage and the front door. There is access between the house and garage and around the rear of the property. The principle garden leads from the dining room, with a raised decked terrace providing the ideal spot for outside dining and entertaining with delightful leafy views over the secluded garden, mainly laid to lawn with hedged boundaries and mature planting. To the South side of the house leading from the sitting room is a further gravelled seating area.
A pathway from the driveway leads down to an idyllic river garden with mooring belonging to the property.

From our offices in the centre of Goring turn left and proceed down the High Street and across the river bridge and up to the top of Streatley High Street where at the traffic lights turn right for Wallingford. Just after entering the village of Moulsford, on the brow of the hill there is a small crossroads where the driveway for Sowberry Lodge will be found on the right hand side opposite Cow Lane (not signposted). Turn right into the driveway and follow it around a hairpin bend to the left, where Sowberry Lodge will be found straight ahead.
